Some of us suffer from gallstone attacks. What are gallstones?
The informative article below written by a PhD tells us more
about gallstones and suggests ways of getting rid of gallstones
naturally.
The gallbladder is a small pear-shaped organ that sits on the
right side of our bodies just beneath the liver. Its primary
function is to store and secrete bile. Bile is a yellow-brown
fluid produced by the liver, which helps us digest fats. Our
liver produces up to three cups of bile a day. Our gallbladder
can store up to a cup of bile as it awaits a fatty meal.
When we eat, our gallbladder contracts and pushes bile into the
small intestines where it helps with the digestion of fats. Bile
is made up of water, cholesterol, fats, bile salts, proteins and
bilirubin. Under certain conditions, substances in the bile,
especially the cholesterol or bile pigment (bilirubin) can
harden into stones – gallstones.
Gallstones can be as small as a grain of sand or as large as a
golf ball. We can develop one large stone or a multitude of
smaller ones. Many people with gallstones have no symptoms at
all. Others go through life relatively symptom free, experiencing
minor symptoms such as abdominal bloating, intolerance to fatty
foods, belching, intestinal gas and indigestion. For others,
however they may suffer what is called a gallstone “attack”.
Gallstone attacks often follow a fatty meal. Symptoms of an
attack include steady, sever pain in the upper abdomen that can
last from 30 minutes to several hours. Sufferers may also
experience pain in the back between the shoulder blades or under
the right shoulder.
A gallstone attack is often accompanied by nausea or vomiting.
If symptoms such as sweating, chills, a fever or a yellowish
color to the skin or whites of the eyes occur, it is important
to seek medical assistance.
There are a number of factors that increase your risk of having
gallstones. Those at a higher risk include women, especially
women who are pregnant, on hormone therapy or taking birth
control pills, people over 60 years of age, Native and Mexican
Americans, overweight individuals and individuals who fast or
go on crash diets and lose a lot of weight quickly.
It is important to recognize that if the gallbladder is loaded
with stones, there is very little room to store bile and fat
digestion may become impaired. In turn, the unused bile can
back up into the liver causing liver congestion. If this is the
case, it is important to evaluate your liver’s health prior to
cleansing on your gallbladder.
Recommendations For Wellness
The traditional treatment for gallstones is to have your gall-
bladder removed. There are, however, a number of things you can
do to reduce your risk of producing gallstones or experiencing
a gallstone attack.
Reduce your consumption of saturated fats typically found in red
meat and pork, while increasing the amount of fresh fruits and
vegetables you consume.
Start a diet and exercise program, but avoid crash dieting which
can increase your risk of gallstones. Both diet and exercise can
help you reduce your risk of producing gallstones.
If you are taking birth control pills or are on hormone
replacement therapy, speak with your doctor regarding your risk
of forming stones or have them check your gallbladder for the
presence of gallstones regularly.
Studies indicate that coffee increase the flow of bile and may
help to decrease the risk of gallstones. If you decide to add
a little coffee to your health plan for this reason, make sure
you only consume organically grown coffee beans.
Supplement with vitamin C. Vitamin C is needed by the body to
convert cholesterol to bile acids in the body.
Lecithin has been shown to help break down and transport fat
molecules and may help dissolve gallstones. Studies indicate
that it is helpful in protecting us from gallstone formation.
Safflowers can be used to thin body fluids as well as aid in
the digestion of oils.
Nature’s Sunshine Gall Bladder Formula can be used to help
stimulate circulation, improve liver function & aid in the
production of digestive fluids.
Do a gallbladder flush. During a gallbladder flush, 1-2 cups
of olive oil are consumed to simulate the gallbladder into
releasing bile. This increased demand on the gallbladder to
release bile works to push the stones out.
If you think your liver is congested, or if you have been
having minor symptoms of gallstones for a long period of time,
it is important to support and cleanse your liver for a period
of time before doing a gallbladder flush. Try taking herbs
such as milk thistle, dandelion or a liver cleanse formula.

Pain In The Neck?
(NC)-Neck pain is less common than low back pain, which
affects about 80 percent of us at some time in our lives.
Nevertheless, a huge number of adults - between 38 and 50
percent - have to cope with a sore neck at some point.
Until recently, the cervical spine was largely ignored by
researchers. Why? Because neck pain caused far less disability
and absenteeism from work than low back pain.
Like the low back, the neck is subject to sprains and strains,
joint problems, and disc problems.
When younger people develop acute neck strain it is usually
a result of turning awkwardly during the night, or playing
a sport such as squash that requires jarring movements.
They may also strain a neck muscle lifting things improperly.
Middle-aged people are more likely to develop neck pain as
a result of the normal degenerative changes of the discs
and joints of the spine.
Whiplash - sprained or torn ligaments and/or muscles - can
affect people of any age. In most cases, whiplash is caused
by a car accident; if your car is hit from the rear, your
head is snapped backward as your body is thrown forward.
Then, of course, is the new category of neck patients that
has been emerging: people whose jobs require them to sit for
long periods of time in a position that stresses the cervical
spine - for example computer work.
As the research on neck pain continues, we'll be learning
more about treatment. But right now, we know enough to show
neck pain sufferers how to eliminate, or at least reduce,
their neck pain with exercise and changes in both their work
habits and the way their workstations are set up. For more
information, visit the www.backrelief.com.

Natural cure for Flatulence (wind)
Here's an excellent and useful article on flatulence or wind
or even gas as we know it.
Why does it always happen in a crowded elevator?
That's what I'd like to know. Or even worse, you are
out with a potential new boyfriend or girlfriend, and
you really want to impress, when all of a sudden,
WOOMPPFF! Embarrassing or what???
But don't despair! The problem is probably a simple
result of eating the wrong foods or too much beer.
Lets check out some darn fine ways of dealing with
bad smells that don't cost much, and are totally
natural.
Tip 1 - try eating 'activated charcoal'. Charcoal
tablets absorb the gases that cause wind, and you
can eat 'em inconspicuously several times a day if
the problem is really bad.
Tip 2 - Chew food thoroughly. At
www.freeremedies.com we always chew our food
100 times, whether it needs it or not. More chewing
means less air when you swallow, and less air
means less ammo for the old 'asscannon'.
Tip 3 - avoid know 'hell raiser' foods like cabbage,
beans, sweetcorn, brussel sprouts, spinach, squid
and monkfish. Although high-fibre foods are useful in
your diet, they can lead to bloating, and unpleasant
sound effects, especially when fermented internally
with any kind of alcohol.
Tip 4 - Fizzy drinks are a no-no. Give up the colas,
7-ups, beers, and other carbonated drinks.
Champagne in moderation is actually ok, for reasons
scientists don't fully understand yet.
Tip 5 - Caffeine causes colonic combustion! The
caffeine in tea, coffee, pepsi etc can irritate the
colon, and this obviously doesn't help.
Tip 5 - and this is the biggie, never try to 'hold it in'.
Boffing is a natural function, and cracking one out is
just the body's way of expelling un-needed gas. If
you try to bottle it up, it will only come back later,
double the strength. Don't give 'em time to brew,
just sneak them out whenever you can!

Three "Nutritious" Foods to AVOID!
There are many food and meals that generally augers
one to be feeling in the pink, out of which ,a good
number of food items are rich in energy content and
could be aptly labeled "Nutritious," but for certain
reasons, outlined below, you should stay away from
the understated Items..
#1: Breakfast Cereals
Most cereals claim to have the whole part of the
grains, protein rich diet, carbohydrate, fat, vitamins
and minerals, which they do, but they also contain a
good quantity of dissolved sugar and processed,
artificial ingredients.
#2: Fruit Juices like Pineapple, Orange or grapes.
There is no denying the fact that they contain vitamin
C and may come from real fruit content, but the fact
remains, they are AGAIN loaded with sugar! Yes, it's
natural sugar, but it's still sugar-Providing High
Calorie and we all know sugar turns to be fat.
#3: Balance Bars
Some company claims to be having the perfect ratio
of protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals
and they do. Some just claim to be a good meal
replacement (Protein rich Balance Bar) because they
contain fats and proteins, and the fact stays that
they do. But if you take a look at the label of most of
those bars, you'll see high fructose cum syrup, sugar
and fractionated oils.
