Nurofen Plus, for effective pain relief

Pain is a very individual thing as everyone has a different threshold. I like to go out in the sun but I would normally end up with a splitting headache. Sometimes the pain would turn into a migraine and normal painkillers would not be of much help, that is until I discovered Nurofen Plus. Thanks to Nurofen Plus, I no longer suffer excrutiating migraines.
Nurofen Plus is not only for migraines, it is also particularly effective for back pain, neuralgia, dental pain and period pain, rheumatic and arthritic pain, muscular pain and Sports pain . Nurofen Plus provides powerful pain relief through the dual action of ibuprofen and codeine. The ibuprofen in Nurofen Plus targets the site of pain locally, and also reduces inflammation and fever. The codeine in Nurofen Plus works centrally to reduce the brain's perception of pain.
However, Nurofen Plus though effective is not to be taken for certain conditions. Do not take Nurofen Plus if you have a stomach ulcer or other stomach disorders, kidney or heart problems. If you are allergic to aspirin, ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatory medicines, codeine or other opioid analgesics, Nurofen Plus is probably not for you. Most asthmatics can take Nurofen Plus, but if you are sensitive to aspirin or other NSAIDs do not take Nurofen Plus. If you are unsure if Nurofen Plus is right for, it is best to consult your doctor or pharmacist.

London Directory

Where do we go to when we need information? No, let me rephrase that. What source would we refer to when we need to locate a shop or a service? We go to a directory, right?

There's this directory I found recently, LondonAdvertisingDirectory, which I am sure would be useful for people in and around London. Even though they have been around for just a few months, they sure do have a good list of goods and services. Navigation is easy as they have the companies properly categorized into New Links, Top Links, Popular Links, and Random Links. Or do a Search for the goods or service you are looking for. You can also narrow down the search by going to Advanced Search. With a total number of 58 categories, you will surely find what you are looking for.

Organic vs. conventional: What do experts say?

Some people go strictly organic but are organic foods 100% better than conventional food? Is organic food more nutritious? Studies have shown that some organic foods contain higher nutrient levels than conventional ones. For example, a recent study showed that organic ketchup had 57 percent more of the antioxidant lycopene than regular ketchup.
--
However, according to Alan McHughen, Ph.D., professor of botany and plant sciences at the University of California, Riverside, organic production allows natural pesticides, which can be toxic to humans and wildlife." Organic fertilizers may also contain harmful bacteria, such as E. coli. Plus, organic farming yields only 75 to 90 percent of the crop of conventional systems, meaning that more land must be planted in order to have an equal return.
--
Professor McHughen's advice is to Focus on foods' benefit to your immediate environment -- i.e. your body -- first. "A good diet means variety, balance, and moderation, regardless of the farming method that produced the food."

When the Elderly should Stop Driving

We have a family friend who has recently stopped driving. She is now in her late 80's.

Do you have a family member who is too old to drive but won't give it up? When you begin to notice the inevitable signs that an elderly loved one should no longer drive, Helpguide.org from Rotary International offers these suggestions on how to discuss this sensitive issue:

1. Tell the person that you are concerned for his or her safety, as well as the safety of others.

2. Mention other transportation options, so the person doesn't feel trapped at home.

3. Talk about how much money can be saved in gas and maintenance by no longer driving.

4. Offer to take the person to regular appointments, the grocery store, and other errands.

Treatment of Fibroids

What are Fibroids? Fibroids are common non-cancerous growths of the uterus. They may be small and cause no symptoms, thereby requiring no treatment. When they are large or there are pressure symptoms or pain, or changes in menstruation, medical attention is necessary.

Read what advice Dr Milton Lum of the Commonwealth Medical Trust has to offer pertaining to the assessment and treatment of fibroids.

Heartburn

Recently, a friend complained of a burning sensation in the chest area. A consultation with her doctor confirmed that she had heartburn.

Heartburn often starts as a feeling of burning, warmth, heat, or pain in the upper abdomen. It may spread in waves upward into your throat.

Almost everyone will have troubles with heartburn now and then. It is important to know the basics so that one is better informed and prepared.

Symptoms of heartburn and symptoms of a heart attack may feel the same. Occasionally, a person may dismiss serious symptoms as "just gas or indigestion." However, if you have a history of heart problems your heartburn symptoms may indicate a more serious problem and need to be checked by your doctor.

Adult Physical activity levels

This is a pie-chart of the U.S. Adult physical activity levels. It shows that 14% of adults are inactive; 38% insufficiently active and 48% sufficiently active. I think the number for the sufficiently active would be lower if we were to take this survey here in Malaysia because ours is not a society where emphasis on exercise is placed.

Cruising tips

Each year millions of people enjoy cruise vacations. Traveling on cruise ships exposes people to new environments and high volumes of people, including other travelers and this exposure creates the risk for illness, either from contaminated food, water or more commonly through person to person contact. How do you protect yourself from illness during your cruise vacation?
The CDC (U.S.) provides these tips to help prevent the spread of illness:

1.
Wash your hands!
- Before and after eating, smoking,

- After touching your face, going to the bathroom

When your hands are dirty.
Learn more about handwashing techniques.

2.
Leave the area if you see someone get sick (vomiting or diarrhea).
Report to cruise staff, if not already notified.
You could become sick if you ingest contaminated particles that travel through the air.

3.
Take care of yourself.
Get plenty of rest, drink lots of water. Resting helps rebuild your immune system. Drinking water helps prevents dehydration.

4.

If you’re ill before taking a cruise, call the cruise line to determine if there are alternative cruising options.
